The Election Commissioner goes to Human Rights Commission 101 election rule violators arrested

A discussion is being held between Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya and the heads of the Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission.

A Human Rights Commission spokesman said that DIG in-charge of Election duties Gamini Navarathna, several officials of the Ministry of Law and Order and the Defence Ministry are also participating in the discussion.

Human Rights Commission Chief Dr. Prathibha Mahanama Hewa told our news team that today’s discussion will take special emphasis on the deployment of government servants on election campaigns.

Meanwhile Acting Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that more policemen will be deployed in the areas where a higher number of election rule violations are reported from.

He also said that 101 election rule violators have already been arrested, and the highest number of election related complaints was made against each other by candidates of a same party.
