107 arrested for violating election laws.

The number of persons arrested over election violence has gone up to 107.


Acting Police Media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told our news team that action had been taken to deploy more police personnel in areas where election regulation violations were reported.


The Election Department Complaints Investigations Unit said that the total number of election regulation violations and violent acts had gone up to 382.


The highest number of election complaints, namely 173, is reported from the Central Province.


While the number of complaints reported from the North Western Province is 146, the least number of complaints, namely, 62, is reported from the Northern Province.


However Acting police Media spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the law with regard to violations of election regulations was implemented to the letter.
