Court issues summons on the TNA and Election Commissioner.

Summons was issued today on the TNA ordering its representatives to appear before the Court on the 2nd of next month.


The Court issued this order when 5 petitions filed against the TNA election manifesto were taken before a bench of 3 Supreme Court judges comprising Chief Justice Mohan Peries, Justice K. Sripavan and Justice Rohini Marasinghe.


The petitioners requested the Court to ascertain whether the TNA manifesto is contravene to the Sri Lanka Constitution as it has suggested forming a separate state in Sri Lankan soil.


Petitioners the National Organisation Collective, Patriotic Bhikkshu Front, Swarna Hansa Foundation, Bodu Maga Organisation and Jaffna Buddhist Association have named TNA leader R. Sampandan and its Secretary Mawei Senadhirajah as respondents.
