Fonseka s election symbol torch becomes an independent Opposition.

The 5 Democratic Party PC members elected in the Saturday’s election have decided to remain in the Opposition and work independently.


The Democratic Party led by Sarath Fonseka faced an election for the first time on last Saturday and won 3 seats in the North Western Provincial Council and 2 seats in the Central Provincial Council.


Democratic Party President and MP Jayantha Ketagoda stated that they will voice their objection against any injustice in the Provincial council.
