Re- polls will be held only on a court order - says Elections commissioner.

Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said that a re-poll could be called for the Puttalam district only on a Court order.


A press briefing was held at the Election Secretariat today with regard to the finding of 2 bags of marked ballot papers at the St. Andrew’s College in Puttalam yesterday.


During the press briefing, the Commissioner said that the incident would not affect the total vote result or the preferential vote result of the Puttalam district.


He also said that the Public Administration and Affairs Ministry Secretary’s was informed to hold an inquiry into the incident.
