Adult population of Sri lanka will be doubled within the next 17 years.

The Health Ministry says that there is a tendency for Sri Lanka’s adult population to become doubled by 2030.


Issuing a communiqué the Ministry says that while the country’s adult population constitutes 10 per cent of the country’s total population, the rate of increase of the adult population has gone up by 22 per cent.


The communiqué says that the biggest problem coinciding with the increase of the adult population in this manner is the health problem and that a tendency of the increase of contagious diseases has been observed.


Accordingly the Health Ministry release points out that by now initial activities for formulating a national policy for solving the health problems of the adult population have begun.
