Representatives of political parties have approved the explanation given by the Elections Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya that the ballot papers discovered in St. Andrew’s College in Puttalam were ones that were counted.
The Elections Commissioner met with representatives of the political parties this morning where he provided them with an explanation regarding the ballot papers.
However, representatives from the United National Party and the Ceylon Workers Congress did not take part in the discussion.
During the discussion the Elections Commissioner had elaborated at length with regard to the process of counting marked ballot papers.
The Elections Commissioner also made a decision to notify public representatives of the entire process from the beginning of an election to the counting of ballot papers in future elections.
