A student group of Batuwandara school given leaving certificates.

A group of parents of Batuwandara Primary School staged a protest against removing the year-6 students from the school this morning.


The authorities have decided to remove the students from the year-6 upward of 5 schools including the Batuwandara Primary School under the proposed ‘10 Secondary School Project’.


The protesting parents said that it was ironical to serve the children school leaving certificates on the 1st of October that falls on World Children Day.


Later the protesters came to Piliyandala, and are continuing the protest near the Education Circuit Office.
