Video:Child dies in Galgamuwa after television falls on him

An incident of a three and a half year old child dying as a result of a television and its stand toppling on him was reported in the Galgamuwa – Mahaanaanneliya – Weawarawatiya region.


The Galgamuwa police stated that three and a half year old H. M. Pamodh Akalanka Herath perished as a result of this accident which occurred yesterday afternoon.


The only male child in the family he is survived by two elder sisters and one younger sister.


At the time the accident occurred the mother of the child was preparing food at the back of the residence while the child’s aunt was looking after the his younger sister aged 2 months.


The unfortunate incident had occurred when the child had attempted to climb the television stand to reach the television’s remote control to switch it on.


The child’s father serves in the Sri Lankan Navy.
