Police sources stated that the deceased had worked as a driver of a drug kingpin and leading underworld boss.


Meanwhile the two persons who were abducted early last morning from D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha made a statement to the Colombo Crimes Division today.


A group had abducted the duo after abandoning their luxury vehicle by the road yesterday and had released them in the Malabe area this morning.


No details of the abductors have been discovered as yet.


However Police Acting Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that the abductees were believed to be questioned regarding any connection with drug peddling by the kidnappers.

Entrepreneur gone missing in Colombo returns home.

The police said that the businessman and his body guard suspected of having been abducted from D. R. Wijewardhana Mawatha in Colombo last dawn had been found last night.  


Acting Police Media Spokesman, SSP Ajith Rohana said that they have been found last night when they had been dropped at a location between Kaduwela and Maalabey.


While the Police last dawn recovered on the D. R. Wijewardhana Mawatha the luxury jeep in which the businessman had come, the police suspected that a gang might have abducted him.


It was after this that the wife of this businessman K. D. Thilakasiri, a resident of Kadawatha complained to the police that the businessman and his guard had gone missing.


At a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday Minister Mervyn Silva said that the businessman concerned was a friend of his.



Abandoned luxury vehicle in Colombo suspected to be linked to a kidnapping.


The acting police media spokesperson, SSP, Ajith Rohana stated that the owner of the luxury vehicle abandoned in D.R. Wijewardena mawatha is suspected to be kidnapped.


He also stated that the police are carrying out investigations regarding the abandoned vehicle.


The police spokesperson stated that upon kidnapping the owner the vehicle has been abandoned.
