Several TNA members who were elected to the Northern Provincial council boycotted the swearing in ceremony held yesterday.

 

TNA affiliated parties EPRLF, TELO and PLOTE that boycotted the ceremony held a media briefing today in Jaffna.

 

Leader of EPRLF MP Suresh Premachandran, M K Sicajilingam of TELO and leader of PLOT Dharmalingam Siddarthan joined the briefing.

 

Addressing the briefing MP Suresh Premachandran stated that his members will never go behind monetary benefits.

 

However Northern Province Chief Minister C V Vigneshwaran stated that he is not prepared to give provincial level ministries to Suresh Premachandran’s brothers.

 

The only representative from the EPRLF to attend the swearing in ceremony was P. Ayingaraneshan who was scheduled to be sworn in as a provincial council minister.

 

The other 5 EPRLF members who contested and won during the provincial council election chose to boycott the ceremony.

 

Although Selvam Adekkalanadan, the leader of TELO was present during the swearing in ceremony, M. K. Sivajilingam who was chosen for the Northern Provincial Council and another member of TELO had not been present during the ceremony.

We did not attempt to break the TNA - says parties that boycotted oaths taking.

Leader of EPRLF MP Suresh Premachandran addressing a media briefing held in Jaffna today stated that it is imperative to protect democracy within the TNA.

 

M K Sivajilingam of TELO and leader of PLOTE Dharmalingam Siddarthan also joined the brifing.

 

PLOTE and the TULF, two parties representing the Tamil National Alliance boycotted the swearing in ceremony which was held at the Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna yesterday.

 

Hence the two ministers who were chosen from PLOTE were not present during the swearing in ceremony.

 

The only representative from the EPRLF to attend the swearing in ceremony was P. Ayingaraneshan who was scheduled to be sworn in as a provincial council minister.

 

The other 5 EPRLF members who contested and won during the provincial council election chose to boycott the ceremony.

8 TNA PC members boycott oaths taking


 Chief Minister of the Northern Province C. V. Wigneshwaran states that the ministers who were chosen for the Northern Provincial Council should refrain from obtaining political favours.

 

He made this statement while addressing the gathering following the swearing in ceremony of the ministers of the Northern Provincial Council.

 

PLOTE and the TULF, two parties representing the Tamil National Alliance boycotted the swearing in ceremony which was held at the Weerasingham Hall in Jaffna.

 

Hence the two ministers who were chosen from PLOTE were not present during the swearing in ceremony.

 

The only representative from the EPRLF to attend the swearing in ceremony was P. Ayingaraneshan who was scheduled to be sworn in as a provincial council minister.

 

The other 5 EPRLF members who contested and won during the provincial council election chose to boycott the ceremony.

 

Our regional correspondent stated that although Selvam Adekkalanadan, the leader of TELO, which is another representative party of the TNA, was present during the swearing in ceremony, M. K. Sivajilingam who was chosen for the Northern Provincial Council and another member of TELO had not been present during the ceremony.

 

Hence only 20 out of a total of 30 TNA members who were chosen for the Northern Provincial Council took oaths.

23 TNA members elected to the Northern Provincial Council were sworn-in before its Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran a short while ago.

 

Our correspondent said that all members of the TNA coalition EPRLF except its minister-elect member were absent in the sworn-in ceremony.

 

The PLOT representatives and TELO member-elect and former MP M.K. Sivajilingam did not attend the ceremony.
