Railway fares for journeys over 200 km increased by 80 rupees

The railway department states that railway fares for journeys of 200 kilo meter or more will be increased by 80 rupees from November 1st.


The department said that this decision was taken to rectify the existing differences in fares.


According to the existing price formula train fares from Colombo to Kilinochchi is 300 rupees.


According to the previous price formula train fares from Slave island to Kilinochchi is 220 rupees.


A spokesperson of the Railway department said this decision was taken considering such differences in fares.
