Ex-LTTE female cadre arrested over robberies

Police arrested a 31-year-old female LTTE cadre who had worked as a leader at Wediththalativu in Mannar for 14 years yesterday.


After the end of the war, she had accompanied her 18-months-year old child and stayed with her relatives in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mannar and Vavuniya.


Later police received complaints from several relatives that the LTTE cadre robbed gold jewelry and money belonging to some households.


Police investigations revealed that the robbed jewelry worth million of rupees have been mortgaged in state banks and private mortgage centers.
