Video: Rain in excess of 150 millimetres throughout the island - Seas off Puttalam to Matara rough

The Met department forecasts that the sea areas off the coast of Puttalam to Galle via Matara will experience thundershowers with accompanying winds with speeds up to 80 kilometers per hour.


Hence the met department requests those who are engaged in fishing activities in those regions to be cautious.


In addition the met department also forecasts showers or thundershowers in most parts of the island in the evening and night with certain regions receiving up to 150 millimeters of rain.


Meanwhile, the department of irrigation has requested paddy farmers to begin cultivation with the arrival of the rains.


The met department states that due to the effect of the inter monsoons the atmosphere around the island continues to be turbulent.
