UPDATE+%3AA+change+in+the+weather+pattern+during+the+next+2+months.

 

The Department of Meteorology says that a low pressure area is forming in the Bay of Bengal and therefore showery and windy weather will continue over the country and suburb sea areas.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at time in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and Southern Provinces.

Duty Meteorologist Pabodini Karunapala stated that fairly strong winds are expected at times over the country and neighbouring sea areas.

The Met Department warned of heavy rains exceeding 100 mm in some places while temporary localized strong winds could also be expected during thundershowers.

Director General H S Kariyawasam stated that a low pressure condition has developed in the bay of Bengal.

 

Meanwhile, the Puttlam – Mannar Road is reportedly under water as the Kala Oya is spilling over.

 

Our correspondent stated that the road is under water from Eluwankulama onwards and requested motorists to use alternate routes
