Video: Surgery to remove mortar from army instructor s body.

A surgery was performed on an army training instructor to remove a mortar round from his body which hit him during a training session at the Army Training School in Maduru Oya this afternoon.


A Polonnaruwa hospital spokesman said that the mortar round was removed from the soldier’s body successfully.


A 60 millimeter mortar round was accidentally hit through the shoulder of instructor Lieutenant N.M.D.C.I. Idaya Kumara but it did not explode inside his body.


Later he was admitted to Polonnaruwa hospital with the mortar round in his body and the operation for 2 hours successfully removed the 60 millimeter mortar round.
