CWC Divisional Councilor remanded till 11th next month.

A CWC Councilor of the Sorana-thota Divisional Council in Badulla was remanded till 11th next month.


He was wanted in connection with an incident of assault, surrendered to the police yesterday.


Subsequently the Badulla Magistrate Court remanded the Divisional Councillor who had been produced in court.


Estate Authorities had lodged a complaint to the Badulla police charging that the Divisional Councillor concerned had attacked a field officer of the Kande-gedera Saara-niyaa Estate on 22nd this month.


The police said that although a search operation had been carried out to arrest the divisional councilor named Baalaraaman Vedaasalam, he had fled the area.


Subsequently he had surrendered to the police through a lawyer.
