Govt decides to implement a joint service timetable for SLTB & private buses.

The government has decided to implement a joint service time table for SLTB and Private busses with effect from 15th of January next year.


The Ministry Sub Committee which was appointed to prepare a national bus fare policy took this decision when they met in parliament yesterday.


Private Transport Minister C.B. Rathnayake said Private buses will be allocated 60% slots while SLTB is given 40% under the proposed joint service time table.


Private bus union representatives as well as Chairmen of Provincial Transport Authorities participated in this meeting yesterday.


Lanka Private Bus Owners Association President Gemunu Wijerathna said that the parties did not come to a final agreement with regard to the joint service time table.
