Bandarawela mourns the death of Punagala bus passengers.

Tranquility reigned in Bandarawela while white flags were fluttering in the sky throughout the town as bodies of 8 victims of the Punagala bus accident were taken for burial this afternoon.


Shops were closed for 2 hours in Bandarawela town from 3pm to 5pm today in respect of the dead.


A SLTB bus carrying 50 passengers from Bandarawela fell into a 350-foot precipice at 9th mile post at Mapitiya in Punagala on Monday at 6.50pm.


10 passengers including 5 women died and 18 injured in the accident, the funeral of 2 victims were held yesterday.
