The met department states that the atmospheric disturbance still persist to the East of Sri Lanka, but rainy conditions have reduced temporally over the country.

There will be showers or thundershowers at times in the Northern, Eastern, Uva and North-central provinces.

Thundershowers will develop at most places elsewhere particularly during the afternoon or night.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

Duty Meteorologist Jeewan Karunarathna requests the General public to take adequate precautions to minimize the damage caused by lightning.

Heavy showers in 3 provinces next week; Chennai Cyclone Warning Centre

The Chennai Cyclone Warning Centre says that thunder showers can be expected in 3 provinces during the next week.

Director of the Centre G Ramanan stated that the Eastern, Southern and Western Provinces will be affected due to a low pressure condition in the bay of Bengal.

Meanwhile, Duty Meteorologist K D Sujeewa at Sri Lanka’s Met Department stated that sea areas from Galle to Jaffna via Batticaloa would be rough at times.

The atmospheric disturbances in the vicinity of Sri-Lanka are expected to be intensified further.

As such showery weather with very heavy rainfalls more than 150 mili meters and lightning activities can be expected over the country and suburb sea areas during next few days.

There will be intermittent showers or thundershowers in the Northern, Eastern, and Uva provinces.

Thundershowers will develop at most places elsewhere particularly during the afternoon or night.
