Footwear, leather exports double within a year

Sri Lanka's footwear and leather exports have doubled within a short period of one year and posted the highest revenues so far in recent times.

The sector has provisioned its first modern tannery complex.

"The 51 million dollar export revenues in 2013 from this sector have more than doubled in 2014 to 110 million dollars showing strong revenue potential.

Industry and Commerce Minister Rishad Bathiudeen said that this performance supports the export promotion efforts of the government.
