Internal and External probes into 2015/2016 EPF transactions

Central Bank of Sri Lanka has commenced an internal examination into the transactions of the Employees' Provident Fund in government securities during 2015 and 2016.

Law enforcement authorities were also asked to carry out an external independent investigation into the issue, Secretary to the Monetary Board of Central Bank said in a statement.

The statement added that the Monetary Board took several measures to strengthen the decision making process with respect to investments during the past six months to safeguard the interests of EPF members.
