The Central Bank said it will issue coins with a face of 10 rupees to depict each district in the country in 2013,

 

Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal also said a program will be launched to put coins that are tied up in piggy-banks and tills in temples and churches back into circulation.

 

Unlike inflationary paper money, the metal in coins sometimes costs more than its face value.
