Sri Lanka exports down 2.8-pct in March, apparel up

Sri Lanka's exports fell 2.8 percent to 837 million US dollars in March 2013 from a year earlier, but apparel was up 5.0 percent to 344.5 million US dollars.

Data released by the Central Bank showed Agricultural exports were also up 0.5 percent to 209.7 million US dollars with tea up 1.9 percent to 129.1 million US dollars.

Rubber product export revenues were down 9.4 percent to 73.1 million US dollars.

Imports were down 16.8 percent to 1,541.5 million US dollars, with consumer goods down 25.5 percent to 255.7 million US dollars.
