Coconut prices sky rocketing.

Coconut prices have gone up rapidly in the current market.


Coconut is even sold at 60 rupees per nut in certain areas of the island.


2900 million nuts were expected in this year but the harvest was down by 25 percent.


Coconut Development and Public Estate Development Minister Jagath Pushpakumara said that the low harvest is the main cause for the sudden price hike.
