Happy Lunar New Year to you!

China celebrated the dawn of the Lunar New Year, also called the Year of the Monkey, in grand scale today.

The monkey is a key animal of the Chinese Zodiac and the Chinese treats the day with great importance. It is also the biggest holiday in Chinese calendar.

Lunar New Year is where families reunite and have a kickass dinner. It is also when the world’s largest migration of people happen. Millions travel to and from China, Hong Kong and many other countries to celebrate the great event with their families.

Meanwhile, celebrators dress up in red and decorate their houses in red to welcome the monkey’s year.

This time the Lunar New Year began today (08) and would conclude on 27th January next year.
