Oliver Stone to scoop Czech film festival award

Three-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Oliver Stone will be awarded a top prize at the Czech Republic's Karlovy Vary international film festival this year.

The US director is set to receive the Crystal Globe award for his contribution to cinematography at the 48th edition of the event in the western spa town of Karlovy Vary.

The 66-year-old, who won Academy Awards for "Platoon", "Born on the Fourth of July" and "Midnight Express", has directed films as diverse as "Nixon" and "Natural Born Killers".
