New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in the 1st match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 by 98 runs.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to field first.

Dropped catches and a disappointing performance in the field off by Sri Lankan’s helped New Zealand post a commanding 331 for 6 in the first match of the Cricket World Cup 2015.

In reply Sri Lanka got off to a steady start where Lahiru Thirimanne made a brilliant 65 and put Sri Lanka on course for the chase with a partnership with Kumar Sangakkara.

Sri Lanka were once on 124 for 1 but soon lost 5 wickets for 44 runs and then later were eventually bowled out for 233.
