West Indies won by 73 runs (D/L method)

West Indies beat Zimbabwe, by 73 runs through the D/L method, in the CC 15th Match, in Pool B of the Cricket World Cup, at Canberra, today.

West Indian opener, Chris Gayle registered his highest individual score in ODI cricket when he scored a double hundred against Zimbabwe today.

His 200 came off 138 deliveries including 9 boundaries and 16 sixes along with a strike-rate of 147.48.

He also becomes the first non-Indian to score a double ton in ODI with Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Rohit Sharma being the other three guys to reach the landmark.

This is also the highest individual score by any batsman in the mega event, with the previous best being of Gary Kirsten with a score of 188.

West Indies scored 372 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their allotted 50 over’s.

Tinashe Panyangara, and Hamilton Masakadza, chipped in one wicket each for the West Indies, and Sean Williams and Craig Ervin were the only two batsmen to score more than a half century for Zimbabwe.

West Indian Hero, Chris Gayle was undoubtedly adjudged the player of the match.
