Kolkata Knight Riders produced a superlative batting performance as they comfortably beat Kings XI Punjab by 31 runs to stay in contention for a playoff berth in the Indian Premier League yesterday.

On a batting belter, KKR posted a mammoth 245 for 6, the highest total for IPL 2018 and fourth-highest in the history of the league.

Sunil Narine blasted 75 off 36 balls while skipper Dinesh Karthik hit 50 off 23 balls.

In reply, KXIP made 214 for 8. KL Rahul scored 66 off 29 balls to keep the momentum going.

But back to back wickets by Andre Russel restricted the KXIP run chase.
