India thrash Pakistan in the 3rd ODI.

Monday, 07 January 2013 - 8:40

Pakistan, resilient, clinical and professional all through their current tour of India, sacrificed those virtues yesterday, throwing away a golden chance of completing the first whitewash in India-Pakistan One-Day International cricket.

Saeed Ajmal chose the perfect time to register his best ODI figures, 5 for 24, as Pakistan ruthlessly cut off all escape routes, sending India crashing to 167 all out with a massive 6.2 overs left un-utilised.

Pakistan’s Misbah Ul Huk batted 39 off 82 balls, first with Nasir Jamshed and then with Umar Akmal.

However, both those stands were ended by Ashwin, and at 113 for 4 in difficult batting conditions, India were gaining ground.

In the end, Pakistan was all out for 157 runs. Nevertheless, Pakistan won the 3 match series 2 – 1.
