Pakistan were dismissed for 49 in their first innings – their lowest test score in reply to South Africa's 253 soon after lunch on the second day of the first Test at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Dale Steyn took six for eight as the South African pace bowlers ripped through the Pakistan batting line-up to leave them reeling on 40 for seven at lunch.

Steyn mowed down the Pakistan top order to end the session with three for eight runs as the visitors battled to cope with the pace and bounce.
