2 suspects who aided and abetted the assassination attempt on former President Chandrika jailed for 300 and 290 years respectively

The Two suspects who were indicted for aiding and abetting the assassination attempt on former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga was jailed today.

First suspect Wardarajah Udayan was given a jail term of 260 years to be served within 30 years by the Colombo High Court Judge Padmini Ranawaka.

The second suspect Chandra Ayyar Raghupathi was given a 300 year jail sentence to be served within 30 years.

The wife of second suspect, Wasantha Ayyar Raghupathi has been acquitted as the charges against her were not proved.

The suspects were indicted while in remand under 110 charges and the case was heard for 15 years.
