Convener of the People’s Movement against the Kolonnawa Garbage Mound, Keerthirathna Perera and Attorney-at-Law Nuwan Bopage have been arrested by the police last night (Sunday

Both have been arrested over the attack followed after a protest against Meethotamulla garbage mound. They will be produced before Aluthkade Number 2- Magistrate Court today (January 11), Police Media Sources stated.

The police had also launched an investigation to identify the group of people who had allegedly attacked residents of Meethotamulla while they were protesting against the garbage dump on December 27

Earlier on January 5th Kolonnawa Urban Council (UC) Chairman Ravindra Udayashantha held in remand custody over the assault of four individuals who organized a Satyagraha campaign against the Meethotamulla garbage dump, was released on bail by the Colombo Magistrate's Court.
