The Government has declared March 13th to be a National Day of Mourning in view of the funeral of the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter, Most Venerable Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera, Secretary of Home Affairs Ministry J.J. Rathnasiri stated.
Most Ven. Galagama Sri Aththadassi Thera who was elected as the 21st Mahanayake Thera of the Asgiriya Chapter in last May, passed away at the Kandy Teaching Hospital last night.
Cremation of the late Thera will be held with full state honors on 13th March at 2.00 p.m. at Kandy Police Grounds.
