Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has directed the Secretary General of parliament to initiate an investigation to determine why an engineer, working at the parliament, had sat on the Speaker’s chair.

The particular engineer allegedly sat in the Speaker’s chair as he was carrying out his responsibilities, overseeing his staff as they were cleaning the house chambers after the sessions on November 16th.

MP Ranjith Aluvihare reported the incident to the speaker.
