REMOVAL OF OIL FROM THE GLORY 2 VESSEL WASHED ASHORE IN RUMASSALA TO CONTINUE
The Marine Environment Protection Authority states that the removal of oil from the Vessel Glory 2 which was washed ashore in the Rumassala area near Galle Harbour, due to the inclement bad weather will be completed today.
General Manager of the Authority Dr Turney Pradeep Kumara said that nearly one tonne of oil was removed yesterday.
He further stated that the 14 tonnes of oil remaining will be removed today.
Even though the removal of oil from the vessel started yesterday the efforts had to be stopped due to a leak in a pipe that was used.
