Heavy showers in the South – Ging and Nilwala Rivers reach spill levels

The Irrigation Department has requested people living in the vicinity of Nilwala River to be more cautious due to the rise in water levels.

Water levels had increased due to heavy rains while minor floods were reported in Panadugama and Uuruwa area.

The highest rainfall yesterday of 104 Millimetres was reported from the Dellawa area in Galle.

Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippilli requested those living in the vicinity of Nilwala and Ging rivers to be cautious.
