60,000 to be deployed to ensure security during Presidential election

There are only about four more days for the 2019 presidential election and political parties as well as the election commission are busy preparing for it.

Participating in a media briefing held at police headquarters yesterday police media spokesman SSP Ruwan Gunasekera said that 60,175 police personnel will be deployed for security and normal duties pertinent to the presidential election.

The police media spokesman said that for the presidential election this time in addition to police personnel 8080 civil defence task force personnel as well as Police Special Task Force personnel have been deployed.

Meanwhile foreign monitoring teams are scheduled to arrive in the country in the course of today and tomorrow for  monitoring the presidential election.
