The international day of the world's indigenous peoples falls today (09).

In Sri Lanka, the marking of the day has been postponed until 15 August in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and the general election, says Veddah chieftain Uruwarige Wanniya.

He says the Veddah people will convene a meeting of their clan on that day while adhering to health guidelines.
