16th COVID-19 death reported - 70 year old male

16th COVID-19 death has been reported in Sri Lanka.

The victim was a 70 year old male who was being treated at the ICU at the Colombo National Hospital.

He had died this morning while receiving treatment at the Surgical Intensive Care Unit of the National Hospital, where the Director General of Health Services said the victim had been diagnosed with Covid infection.

The deceased has been identified as a resident of Colombo 02.

He was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital on the 23rd due to complications caused by a germ entering his blood.

The Director General of Health Services said that he had died due to the relevant complications.

Meanwhile the number of reported coronavirus cases in the country is nearing 8,000.

Over 400 cases have been reported today.
