Four persons arrested for heroin trafficking

A woman who was engaged in heroin trafficking in the Matara area has been arrested with heroin this afternoon (28).

Our correspondent in Weligama said that the arrest was made by the Matara Divisional Anti-Corruption Unit on a tip off received by the intelligence officers of the Matara Army Camp.

The arrested woman is 25 years old and the amount of heroin found in her possession was 325 grams.

During further investigations, another 38-year-old woman from Thudawa, Matara and two youths aged 22 and 27 from Kamburugamuwa were arrested on suspicion of being involved in the racket.

The suspects are to be produced before the Matara Magistrate's Court and further investigations are being carried out.
