Prof. Methika Vithanage of the Sri Jayewardenepura University says that there is a risksince groundwater could be contaminated due to the burial of dead bodies infected with the coronavirus.

She says that it is important to be careful as we still have little experience with the virus.

There has been renewed talk about requests to allow the bodies of Muslims who succumb to the Covid 19 infection to be buried instead of cremation.

Prof. Methika Vithanage, Professor of Natural Resources, University of Sri Jayewardenepura expressed the following views in this regard.
