Trio arrested for stealing gold jewellery (video)

Three persons have been arrested for stealing gold jewellery from a jewellery shop in Vavuniya.

A woman, aged 43 years, and her 18-year-old daughter and the latter’s lover 11 years her senior, are the suspects.

The arrests were made following a complaint and with the assistance of CCTV footage.

Police say investigations revealed that the trio had committed robberies in several other areas as well.

The residents of Hambantota and Thalawa, they had stolen gold jewellery worth more than Rs. 400,000 in Vavuniya.

The suspects are due to be produced before the courts today (21).
