Chinese technicians have launched a spacecraft for a mission to bring back material from the moon's surface.

This would be a major advance for the country’s space program and marks the first time in four decades that any country has sought to bring rocks and debris from the moon to Earth. 

If successful, China will become the third country to successfully bring lunar rocks to Earth in about 50 years.
