Steps were taken yesterday to isolate the two Grama Niladhari Divisions of Bulugahatenna and Thelambugahawatta in the Akurana Divisional Secretariat Division of the Alawatugoda Police Division in the Kandy District.

In addition, the Atalugama East, Epitamulla and Kolamediriya Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Bandaragama Police Division were also isolated from yesterday.

The decision was made by the health department after identifying people infected with the coronavirus.

In addition to these areas, Modera, Bloemendal, Kotahena, Grandpass, Foreshore, Wolfendhal Street, Dam Street, Pettah, Keselwatta, Maligawatta, Modara and Mattakkuliya police areas in the Colombo District continue to be isolated.

The Wanathamulla Grama Niladhari Division in the Borella Police Division and the Wekanda Grama Niladhari Division in the Slave Island Police Division were also isolated until further notice. In addition, the Negombo, Wattala, Peliyagoda, Kelaniya and Ragama police divisions in the Gampaha district will remain isolated until further notice.

Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon said yesterday that in addition to the people in the isolated areas, all arrangements are being made to provide essential facilities including food to the people of the eight isolated apartment complexes in Colombo.

Meanwhile, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva stated that the Kirimanthudawa Grama Niladhari Division in the Bandaragama Police Division which had been isolated so far has been removed from its isolation from yesterday.
