The Epidemiology Unit says that there is a decrease in the reporting of coronavirus infections in the society.

Its Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera stated this while participating in a media briefing held in Colombo today.

Meanwhile, with the identification of 178 more infected people today, the total number of coronavirus infections reported in the country has increased to 23,662.

Nearly 80 police personnel attached to the Morontuduwa and Millaniya police stations have been quarantined after three police officers were identified with the coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, our correspondents stated that large crowds were gathered in the Pettah area in Colombo, after isolation was removed today.

Eastern Province Governor Anuradha Yahampath has also taken steps to declare the Akkaraipattu police area as a high risk health security zone since the number of coronavirus infections reported in the area has increased.
