The Department of Export Agriculture states that it expects by next year to achieve the government's goal of becoming a self-sufficient Sri Lanka with turmeric by 2023.

Its development director Upul Ranaweera said last year's crop of turmeric would be harvested by end of this month, in February and March.

He also stated that a harvest of more than 25,000 tons of turmeric is expected.
