Rashen Dilshan and Hiruni Maheshika have set a new river swimming record in the shortest time.
Rashen Dilshan, a student of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda, swam 40 kilometres in 11 hours, 2 minutes and 25 seconds, the longest distance ever covered by a Sri Lankan swimmer.
Hiruni Maheshika of Devananda Central College, Ambalangoda, who set a new swimming record, became the longest swimmer in a short time by swimming a distance of 32 km in 9 hours, 58 minutes and 4 seconds.
The swimming competition was held on the Madampa River in Ambalangoda yesterday (16) under the supervision of Nihal Bamunusinghe, Chairman of the Control and Technical Officers Committee of the Sri Lanka Aquatics Association.
