Schools in the Western Province will open for GCE Ordinary Level students from tomorrow. This will be only for the GCE O/L students.
Schools are open in other parts of the country excluding Western province subject to certain restrictions.
Schools in the Western Province will not be open for other classes due to the spread of the coronavirus and the Ministry of Education has decided to reopen those schools targeting only GCE Ordinary Level students.
Accordingly 907 out of 1576 schools in 11 education zones in the Western Province will be open for O / L students from tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Ceylon Transport Board Kingsley Ranawaka stated that steps have been taken to deploy Sisu Sariya buses for the transportation of students and that additional buses will be deployed if required.
The General Manager of the Railways Dilantha Fernando stated that the train services which were temporarily restricted due to the second wave of the Corona epidemic will resume as usual from tomorrow.
Accordingly, about 390 trains will run from tomorrow.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that they are closely monitoring the safety practices of all sectors involved in passenger transport.
He stated that special attention will be paid to ensure that social distance is maintained.
Also, special raids will be carried out to find those who do not follow the relevant health guidelines on public transport.
The Police Media Spokesman further stated that action will be taken against those who do not follow the health guidelines under the quarantine law.
